From the New President, Bruce Menser

Dear Venture International Friends,

It is my great pleasure to write to you as the new president-elect of Venture International. I have known Len Rodgers since 1982 and am well aware of the rich legacy of Len’s ministry with Venture International, World Vision and Youth for Christ. My commitment is to work closely with Len on a smooth transition and to build on the quality programs established in the Middle East and in Kyrgyzstan. I look forward to meeting with staff in each country and to developing innovative program plans for the years ahead.

I need your prayers. I accept this new challenge, knowing that we need God’s strength and wisdom. Through prayers and hard work we will search for guidance on the best way forward as we respond to needs on the ground, understand our organizational capacities and develop the unique calling of Venture International. Building on the past, what is God calling us to in these times? With Venture International’s mission statement as our foundation, how will we continue to build bridges between God’s people in the East and the West? How best can we stand in solidarity with the local church in these times? What are the best strategies as we continue to develop strategic partnerships, foster small business creation, develop people and deliver emergency relief?

I also need your advice and counsel as we work together to build this ministry. In these first months I will do a lot of listening to our partners and friends around the world, continuing to clarify and focus on our commitment to serve the poor, physically and spiritually.

As I begin this important work, I am also fortunate to have great support from my wife, Elzbieta, and our daughter, Natalie. Elzbieta and I were married in Poland in 1984 and recently celebrated 25 years of marriage. Natalie was born in 1987 in Zimbabwe and is currently studying international health at Georgetown University. Most of our family experience has been in Africa and the Middle East.

I bring to Venture International a passion for developing people and programs. It has been my privilege to build programs in four countries in Africa and in Lebanon. For me, building is a team effort. Success comes from working together, from creative collaboration.

I sincerely look forward to working with you in the days to come. Thank you in advance for your generous prayers and support.

"We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you" (Psalm 33: 20-22).
